Collins and Brengle Reach Charleston $60K Final; Sandgren Moves on in Savannah; Kozlov Claims ITF Grade 4 Title in Delray Beach

Top seed Madison Brengle aims for her second consecutive $60,000 Pro Circuit title Sunday when she faces two-time NCAA champion Danielle Collins in the Charleston final.  Brengle, who took the title last week in Charlottesville without losing more than four games in any set, beat 16-year-old wild card Claire Liu 6-3, 6-1 in today's semifinal.  She will face unseeded Danielle Collins, who won her fourth straight match from a set down today, beating 17-year-old Sofya Zhuk of Russia 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.  Collins, the 2014 and 2016 NCAA singles champion while at Virginia, has had a slow start to 2017, with her record on the pro tour just 7-8, with four of those wins coming this week, but she has reached a final at the now $60,000 level before, losing to Kayla Day in Macon last October.

At the $75,000 ATP Challenger in Savannah, Tennys Sandgren won his second straight match in a third set tiebreaker, saving a match point at 4-5 in the third set in his 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) win over wild card Tommy Paul. Sandgren, who clinched the USTA's French Open wild card with a win over Henri Laaksonen of Switzerland yesterday, will play unseeded Joao Pedro Sorgi of Brazil in the final, after Sorgi took out former North Carolina State standout James McGee of Ireland 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

At the $15,000 Futures in Mexico, former Georgia Tech star Kevin King
has reached the final, where he will face No. 4 seed Ivan Endara of Ecuador.  King, who is working his way back to the tour after surgery on both his hips, qualified in Mexico, defeated top seed Adam El Mihdawy in the first round and hasn't dropped a set since, beating unseeded Evan Song 6-2, 7-5 in today's semifinals.  Later this afternoon, King won the doubles title with former Ole Miss star Nicolaas Scholtz of South Africa, beating No. 3 seeds Nathaniel Lammons(SMU) and Farris Gosea(Illinois) 7-6(4), 7-6(4). It was King's 10th pro doubles title and Scholtz's 11th, although it is the 26-year-olds' first together.

Boris Kozlov won an ITF Grade 5 tournament last month in Canada, and in his first junior tournament since, he again captured a title, this time near his home in Florida, at the Grade 4 in Delray Beach.  The 16-year-old Kozlov, the No. 1 seed, defeated unseeded 15-year-old wild card Alex Lee 6-0, 6-3 in today's final.  In the girls final, 16-year-old Margaryta Bilokin of Ukraine, the No. 5 seed, defeated unseeded Angelica Blake 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to capture her first ITF singles title.

The boys doubles title went to No. 6 seeds Thomas Guy of New Zealand and Christian Alshon, who beat unseeded Jericho Grollman and James Ignatowich 6-4, 6-4 in the final.  The unseeded team of Kylie Collins and Meg Kowalski won the girls doubles championship, beating No. 3 seeds Kianah Motosono of Peru and Willa Bay Breunich 6-2 6-3 in the final.

At the ITF Grade 1 in Morocco, No. 3 seed Elysia Bolton fell in her first final at that level, dropping a 7-5, 6-1 decision to No. 13 seed Yasmine Mansouri of France.  Top seed Alexei Popyrin of Australia won the boys title, beating unseeded Daniel Rodrigues of Portugal 6-0, 6-2.
